Semester 2, Grad Photos & More

It’s almost Semester 2

What can you expect when you come back to school in Semester 2?

New timetable
Starting at 8:30 am, all students can pick up a new copy of their semester 2 timetable in the the cafeteria. (There have been some room and teacher changes since timetables were first printed in August, so make sure to get yours!)

After you get your timetable, head to the library for your semester 2 textbooks. It is very helpful if you bring your student ID card with you to speed up your textbook processing. Classes will begin at 9:50, so there will be time for everyone to pick up their book before period 1 begins.

Class changes
If you’re thinking of changing a class, sign up via the appointment sign up link on the Edsby Student Services page. And then please attend the classes on your timetable until Student Services staff connect with you.

Any other questions? – Drop by the office and Mrs. Slootweg will help you out.

Grad Photos ~ Feb 3-7

It’s graduation picture time!  LINK >>
The photographers will be at HD from Feb 3-7. All grade 12’s need to sign up for a 10-minute slot. The $35 sitting fee may be paid online when you sign up or brought to the camera on the day of the appointment. Please follow the instructions in the attachment below. If you have any questions, please ask Mrs.O.

Some FAQ’s:
What does the $35 get you?
You get 10 shots, 3 or 4 are typical cap/gown/diploma shots and the others are your choice. You can have pics taken with friends or with your favorite instrument or book etc. You will also get a copy of the composite picture of all grads. The $35 does not give you any pictures. You will have to purchase those separately.

What if I can’t make my appointment time?
You can go online and log in using your username and password and change your appointment time.

What clothes do I need?
You should bring a white shirt (girls) or a white shirt and tie (guys). Lifetouch will have a few in case you forget but there is no guarantee that they will fit or be the style that you prefer. They will provide a cap and gown. You may also bring other clothes if you want some casual shots taken.

What if I don’t want grad pictures?
We encourage you to get your picture taken so you can be included in the composite picture, have your picture on the screen when you walk across the stage at graduation and be included in the yearbook.

What if the program says it doesn’t recognize my name when I try to sign up?
Tell Mrs. O. The program has preloaded all of our grade 12 students. There are errors sometimes.

Our Spring Fundraiser is a dinner and silent auction on March 28th to raise funds for Student Learning Projects.  We are inviting more people to be a part of the planning team.

Do you enjoy planning events, decorating or do you have connections to local businesses whom you could approach for prizes and auction items?

Contact Tina VanDyk ( 905-648-6655 x 110) for more info.

Plans are already underway for the Eat, Give & Be Merry Spring Fundraiser – Dinner, Silent Auction & Raffle.  We could really use your help!

Help us to entice our dinner guests with fabulous auction items and prizes by donating gift cards, camping gear, electronics, or gift baskets.  Experiences are ever-popular including game tickets or a cottage stay.

Do you have a skill to share? Consider donating a cooking class, sign making, pottery or another workshop.  This is a great way to advertise your business AND raise funds for Student Learning Projects at HDCH.  For more information, contact Tina VanDyk.

If you wake up one morning and the weather outside is frightful we will post cancellation notices in the following places: Edsby, CHCH TV, CHML 900 radio, Facebook, and Twitter. If there is no cancellation notice, then come on in – we’re open!
